New Business
- Welcome to new JETAA year & new committee members
- Thanks again for assistance at JETAA Quiz Night (raised >AUD 4200.00 for Support Net Niji-no-kai charity) and volunteering at Friends of Japan Tsunami Appeal (>AUD 11,000.00)
Treasurers Report
- Currently $3028.00 in bank
- This Japanese financial year JETAA WA has already paid for:
- PO Box renewal
- T-shirts
- * Notification of committee meeting reimbursement pending (due to recent crisis in Japan)
- Funding application has been submitted but will take time to process (Japan crisis)
- Budget for Winter Matsuri: CLAIR funded $350 last year – may need to increase ticket price to $25
- No budget for printing is this year’s application (deemed unnecessary)
- This year’s hosting for website was paid for last year
Presidents Report
- Executive Committee to pay courtesy call to new Consul-General in June
- JET Programme
- 3 JETS accepted in April intake; 1 pulled-out (Miyagi placement), 2 departed.11 JETs departing in August.
- Q&A night inc. team-teaching presentation planned (June/July – TBC). All committee invited to attend/participate
- JETAA-sponsored Leavers Dinner (July) – do we have any funding for this event?
- ACTIONS
- Luke E to confirm what budget if any available for Leavers Dinner
- Nick J to confirm date of Q&A night with CG
- Kaiwa – ongoing
- Schedule fixed to end of July.
- Committee to remind participants that they can only consume food/beverages purchased on premises.
- Winter Matsuri – June/July
- Two suggestions: annual Swan Valley networking day trip and a cooking event (both with mixed Australian & Japanese participants & cultural exchange activities). Will investigate possibility of holding both (separately).
- Investigating good weekend to hold event
- Investigate larger bus for Swan Valley networking day trip (last year’s participation >40 people)

- Try to negotiate reduced fare in exchange for promotions (website/Facebook exposure, JETAA mailout etc)

- President purchased a kakigouri (shaved ice) maker, for use at annual Japanese School Bunkasai stall and other events
