AGM 2015

March 25, 2015 by

Greetings all!

Unbelievable to think it’s been a year since we last gathered in Subiaco, but the 2015 AGM is fast approaching. As always this will be an intimate affair – a chance to hear about everything that’s been happening in the JET and Japan-related world in Perth, reminisce with old and new friends and enjoy free food and drinks. This year we’ll be at Murdoch University Tavern on Friday March 27th – all former JET Programme participants are welcome to attend. If you can’t make it on the day you’re still very welcome to forward your thoughts and nomination to the Secretary for tabling.

The AGM also means that all JETAAWA Committee positions are up for grabs. JETAAWA is an increasingly well-known and respected organisation within Perth’s Japanese community, so taking on one of these roles is a great way to enhance your profile and employability while also having a great time with friends and reliving the JET glory years. If you’re up for one of the titled roles then fantastic, and even if you’d just like to test the water to try it out then definitely consider a General Committee Member position.

The following positions–all of which look great on a CV–are open for nomination:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Social Rep
  • Media Rep
  • Promotions Rep
  • Employment Rep
  • kaiWA Rep
  • Webmaster
  • General Member

You can find full position descriptions for each of these roles in the document attached. There are also some currently vacant roles, which you’ll find mentioned in the Charter.

So if you see yourself in any of these roles, and are looking for greater opportunities to interact with the Japanese and Japan-interest communities in Perth–and get invitations to swanky Consulate events, send your nomination to the Secretary at sec@jetaawa.com. As mentioned above it’s fine to nominate for a position, including General Member, even if you won’t be able to make it to the AGM in person on the day.

The AGM agenda is attached for your reference, along with some supporting documents – please note the information on incorporation, which is something we’ll be discussing at the meeting on the day.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please feel free to get in touch – otherwise look forward to seeing everyone at the AGM.

Cheers!
