1. Family Okonomiyaki BBQ
This year’s Family BBQ will be on Sunday 28 February from 11:30am. It will be at same place as last year – Synergy Parkland in Kings Park (see map).
As always, a BBQ will be provided free, including freshly cooked okonomiyaki! Soft drinks etc will also be free – if you want alcohol, it’s BYO.
As in past years, the Consulate-General will also be providing some watermelons for dessert and suika-wari.
This picnic is a great chance to catch up with friends or make new ones in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. Bring your kids!
This is not just for members, btw.
2. AGM
This year’s AGM will be on Friday 12 March in a private room at Bar 138 on Barrack St. Finger food and drinks will be provided – members only for this one!
We hope you can make it down to hear our year in review and see what is in store for next year. There will be nominations/elections for committee positions as usual – as noted previously, all positions are available as always!
We have had quite a few nominations already, but we are always looking for more. In particular, we have the ANZ Regional Conference in Perth this year, so the more hands on deck the better! If you want to be involved but can’t commit to an “executive” position, feel welcome to join the active group of General Members of the committee – this past year General Members have made great contributions.
Please RSVP by Friday 5 March – but earlier is better!
3. Quiz Night
This year’s quiz night is as usual at the UWA Tavern, presented jointly with UWA JAPSSOC. It will kick off from 6:30pm ON THE DOT on Tuesday 30 March.
Dinner is provided, and drinks are at your own expense from the bar. There will be lots of prizes and plenty of fun as usual.
We had 100 people attend last year, and we hope to beat that to top off 09-10!
There is a $5 cover charge to ensure quality on the night – please RSVP early to enable setup of tables, and pay on the night! Attendance is not just for members, as always. You can either RSVP with other people to form a team or individually to be arranged in a team with others.
4. CLAIR local government conference
CLAIR Sydney is holding a conference in WA next month on “Local Government Reform”, and would also like to invite JETAA members to attend. If you are interested, please let us know. Information is as attached.
5. Returnees reception
Committee members will be attending the official returnees reception tonight (25-2) at the Consul-General’s official residence on behalf of all members.
6. kaiWA
kaiWA continues as usual this Thursday Feb 25 and then March 11 and 25. Come along to 43 Below from 5:30 to chat in English/Japanese about everything and anything.
Thanks everyone – we hope to see you at the upcoming events!
