Hi all –
Welcome to the year of the rabbit!
Our first news update will be short but sweet. Your no. 1 priority is RSVPing to the picnic and nominating for the 2011-12 committee!
1. FAMILY PICNIC
We are holding our annual picnic again at Kings Park’s Synergy Parkland, which is closest to the Saw Avenue entrance to the park.
The picnic will be from around 11:00 on Sunday 27 February 2011.
We aim to have an Aussie BBQ; a Japanese okonomiyaki fry-up; an Aussie footy/cricket clinic; a Japanese melon-bashing; etc. etc. (including music and stilts!)
It will be a celebration of both cultures and a family-friendly event. Food and drink are provided but we need to know RSVPs soon: president@jetaawa.com.
Those who have been before will know it is lots of fun, so come and down and feel free to bring along friends interested in Japanese or Australian culture. No wasters though!
2. QUIZ NIGHT
We are trying to set a date in March to hold the gala Quiz Night and will update you ASAP.
3. AGM
The date of the AGM will depend on the date for the Quiz Night, so stay tuned – it will likely be a Friday night in March.
As always, we will hold elections for all positions on the committee, and for General Member positions.
Being a General Member of the committee is a great way to stay involved in JETAAWA while not having the responsibility (or enjoyment!) of an official role.
This year, Richard Southern, Karen Carter, Paula Bonetti, Tim Hoff, Natalie Garmony and Andrew Paterson have gone over and above what is expected of General Members, which has made things much easier for the entire committee, especially with the Regional Conference.
To all JETAAWA members, please let us know ASAP at president@jetaawa.com if you are interested in any of the following positions, which are all open, as always.
We would love to have a good mix of recent returnees and grizzled veterans!

Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Social Rep

Webmaster
