I’ll make this quick. We have 2 super events coming up and we’d love you at one or both!
(1) QUIZ NIGHT
This is usually the highlight of our events for the year and 2013 will be no exception. Set aside the date: Thursday, 14 March 2013. (Please note: no kaiWA on this date – will resume 28/3.)
As usual, we are on at the UWA Tavern from 630 for a start of proceedings at 7pm sharp!
RSVPs are to firstname.lastname@example.org and are due by 10 March 2013.
Tables are of 8 people but don’t worry if you can’t fill a table – RSVP in smaller numbers and we’ll match you up with some new allies.
Entry is $10 on the door, which covers food. Drinks are available from the bar.
We are always helped out by our wonderful prize donors, so get in for your chance to make friends and win big!
Last, but not least, all profits go to charity, most likely Red Cross Japan. So hit the books and show your heart!
Quiz Night flyer:
Hot on the heels of the quiz night is our AGM, scheduled for Friday 22 March 2013. Location/time are TBC but will likely be Perth CBD after work.
The AGM is a good chance to catch up on all our activities for the year and to share war stories.
It’s also a great (and ostensibly the only) chance to nominate to be on the JETAAWA committee for 2013-14.
By being on the committee, not only will you be able to participate in steering JETAAWA in new directions and organise fun events; you’ll also get invites to swanky parties and be able to build some contact networks across Australia!
As always, all positions are available for nomination, as follows.
President: do none of the work, get all of the glory
Vice-Pres: do some of the work, share some of the glory
Secretary: keep the rest of us in line
Treasurer: be in charge of our bulging bottom line
Media Rep: design and edit our promotional flyers and newsletters throughout the year
Social Rep: be nominally in charge of our event planning (but see below!)
Promos Rep: keep the world informed of our events and activities
Webmaster: maintain jetaawa.com and our other internetly other bits and pieces
We also have an infinite number of General Member positions on the committee. You don’t get a super title and you don’t appear on the business card, but you still get a T-shirt and most of the invites, and you simply put your time into our activities whenever you’re willing and available, without the ‘expectation’ of a ‘named’ position. I should add that, although we have a Social Rep position, traditionally we have all kicked in when it comes to event coordination. Really, everyone does a bit of everything all the time!
The more, the merrier!

Remember, current committee members wishing to continue need to nominate too! Maybe we’ll have some US-style podium-bashing and hanging chads (is that what they were called?) at the AGM.
