Hi all.

If you intend to attend this year’s Quiz Night (Tuesday 30 March), please let us know ASAP so we can organise tables!
The event is held at UWA Tavern, jointly with JAPSSOC. Questions start at 6:30pm on the dot. There is a cash bar and dinner and snacks are included in the $5 entry fee.
It’s our biggest event of the year. We already have around 70 RSVPs but are aiming for 100 like last year.

GATE: Atomic Flame movie screening

JETAAWA is cooperating in the screening of GATE: Atomic Flame, a documentary about Zen monks who took a flame kindled in the embers of the Hiroshima atomic bombing to the Trinity test site in the US to put it out, as a religious gesture to complete the circle of destruction and save humankind.

GATE is being screened in English on Tuesday 20 April and in Japanese on Wednesday 21 April.
Both nights are at St David’s Church Hall, 54 Simpson St, Ardross.
Doors open at 6:30 and screening is from 7. A small note donation is encouraged.

JAPSSOC River Cruise

Our friends at UWA JAPSSOC are holding their annual river cruise on Thursday April 8. It’s always great fun, so please contact them if you are interested: japssoc@gmail.com. Tickets are $25 including membership of JAPSSOC. See the attached flyer for more details.

Rakugo

On Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 March there is a free performance of English rakugo by prize-winning performer Asakichi Katsura. It’s at the State Library Theatre and starts both nights at 6:30pm. Entry is free but numbers are limited so it is first-come, first-served. For more info, see the attached flyer.

English teaching opportunity

JETAAWA has learnt of an opportunity in the CBD for ESL teachers or tutors to work 10-20 hours per week, spread flexibly over 3 or 4 days. Pay is $20/hour. For more info, please contact Jake Hudson: jake@watravelanddive.com

kaiWA is on as always from 5:30pm at 43 Below on the corner of Hay and Barrack Streets. Upcoming dates are Thursday 25 March and 8 April.
