The upcoming seminar of Two-Way Learning: Navigating Aboriginal Perspectives in Australia and Japan, is to be held at Hyogo centre on Tuesday 13 August.
Visiting Professor Koji Maeda from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan is one of the speakers of this seminar.
Professor Maeda is an Executive Director of Japan Society for the Study of Adult and Community Education and of the Japanese Association for the Study of Learning Society. His research interests include multicultural education, adult and community education, and lifelong learning.
At this seminar, he will share the Japanese Urespa Project’s ‘mutual learning’ approach (urespa meaning ‘mutual nurturing’ in the Ainu language
and sodateai in Japanese). This approach stresses a nurturing environment in which both Ainu and non-Ainu students feel included.
